Explain the function of the following : i) promoter ii) sigma factor iii) UTR
1) The major functions of a promoter include the following: Coming up with the idea of forming a company and evaluating its market size. Collecting the required number of persons who agree to act as the first directors of the company. Finding people who can sign the Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association. 2) Sigma factors are subunits of all bacterial RNA polymerases. They are responsible for determining the specificity of promoter DNA binding and control how efficiently RNA synthesis (transcription) is initiated. 3) The untranslated regions (UTRs) in mRNA play critical role of regulating the stability, function, and localization of mRNA. The 3'-UTRs of mRNA also serve as templates for miRNA binding that regulates the turnover and/or function of the mRNA.
