Body of the solution: When an electric circuit is overloaded or short-circuited, there will be an excessive flow of current, in turn, there will be high production of heat, that melts the fuse which has a low melting point, resulting in preventing damage to the circuit. Thus, the heating effect of electric current is utilized in the working of an electrical fuse.
