Explain the process by which inhalation occurs during breathing in human beings?
The process of inhalation is the intake of oxygen-rich air through the nostrils into the lungs. During inhalation, the diaphragm present at the base of the chest cavity moves downward. The rib bones move upward and outward. This also includes intercostal muscles contracting to increase the chest cavity.
