Option A In mammals, erythrocytes or red blood cells (RBC) are the most abundant of all the cells in the blood.  On an average RBC are about 5 million to 5.5 millions per dL in the blood. .  RBCs have an average lifespan of 120-128 days after which they are destroyed in the spleen (graveyard of RBCs).
