The potential energy of a freely falling object decreases progressively. Does this violate the law of conservation of energy? Why?

A body at a particular height has maximum potential energy, when it falls the potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy, when the object is about to touch the ground, the body has maximum velocity and hence the kinetic energy is maximum.         Energy is not lost but it gets transformed into different forms.. It abides by the Law of Conservation of Energy.
