According to Annemarie Schimmel, the Mughal Emperor Akbar (r. 1556–1605) become averse to the exercise of Sati; however, he expressed his admiration for "widows who wanted to be cremated with their deceased husbands". He turned into averse to abuse, and in 1582, Akbar issued an order to save you any use of compulsion in sati.
