Option D. Baker's yeast is of the species Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The same species is also commonly used in alcoholic fermentation that is why it is also known as brewer's yeast.  It is used as a leavening agent in bread making. It converts sugar present in the dough to carbon dioxide.  Due to this, the dough expands. When such dough is baked then air pockets formed due to carbon dioxide gives a soft and spongy texture to the bread.
