Option A. Catalytic converters are the devices which are fitted in the exhausts of the automobiles to decrease the pass out of harmful gases into the air. These converters use platinum-palladium and rhodium as catalysts which are expensive metals. They convert the unburnt hydrocarbons from the exhaust into carbon dioxide and water whereas carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and nitric oxide to nitrogen gas. We often use it as an exhaust controlling device which helps in the reduction of harmful gases and the pollutant particles from any industry and converts it into less toxic pollutants. Here the Redox reaction takes place. Catalytic converters are also being used appropriately in cars, buses, trucks and other automobiles. These days people also use them on their stoves to control the emission. Catalytic converters consist mainly of Platinum, Palladium, Rhodium. The composition of these materials totally depends upon the engine and the kind of fuel getting used.
