What is the worst hurricane on record?
The typhoon that ripped via the Caribbean islands of Martinique, St. Eustatius and Barbados in October 1780 is the worst on record so far. It killed nearly 22,000 people. However, this typhoon does no longer have a name, because the exercise of giving human names to principal hurricanes commenced during World War II.
