How big are sharks?
There are over 350 species of shark in the ocean, and now not all are giant killers. Of these, much less than 50 species develop longer than two metres (6 feet). One of the biggest sharks is the gentle whale shark, which is 15 metres (50 feet) lengthy and eats flowers and small shellfish. The smallest shark is the pygmy ribbontail catshark at simply 24 centimetres (9.5 inches) long.
