Why do reptiles like the sunshine?

Reptiles are cold-blooded animals. This means that they want to bask in the solar and warm up to get energy. Although reptiles love the sun, they can overheat, and then they have to cross in to the colour and cool down. If it gets too bloodless out, reptiles grow to be slow and want to sleep or hibernate until the weather is warmer. Even in sub-tropical areas, many snakes hibernate proper through the winter. The population of reptiles falls off as one moves to chillier regions.
