How are constrictors able to swallow prey as big as monkeys and deer?

The jaws of constrictor snakes are like rubber bands. They would possibly appearance small but they may be stretched to a big extent. This is due to the fact the top and decrease jaws are connected to ligaments as opposed to the skull. This allows the snake to open its mouth huge sufficient to swallow a monkey or a deer whole.
