Why do we sometimes choke on our food?
The throat includes tubes – one for meals, and one for air. A small flap called an epiglottis closes the windpipe the moment we swallow, stopping the meals from getting into the windpipe. However, sometimes the meals by accident enters the windpipe, inflicting us to choke. This typically happens while we snort or speak whilst eating, or swallow meals with out chewing properly.
