What caused the Peloponnesian war?
Around the 5th century BC, the Athenians have become very powerful. They started to dominate all of the different town-states, mainly in conflict.The town of Sparta have become jealous and, supported through Corinth, went to battle against Athens in 431 BC. The Peloponnesian War lasted for 27 years. Athens changed into defeated. It become stripped of its military and misplaced its colonies.
