How were the various kingdoms governed?
Much of western Europe turned into dominated by the feudal system. The king allotted land amongst noblemen in go back for offerings and loyalty. Poor peasants rented this land from the nobles, and regularly paid them with livestock, eggs, firewood or wine. The nobles lived in a fortress or a manor house.
