Lyme disease is because of the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and rarely, Borrelia mayonii. It is transmitted to people via the chew of inflamed blacklegged ticks. Typical signs and symptoms consist of fever, headache, fatigue, and a feature pores and skin rash referred to as erythema migrans.
