The trade relations with Mesopotamia were established by archaeologists by reading the records of the Mesopotamian trade. The records refer to trading with a region called Meluha. Meluha was the older name given to Indus. The records also refer to the intermediate regions, treated as trading centers between Mesopotamia and Meluha. The texts are not the only ones that indicate the trade relations of Indus valley with the rest of the world, but the depictions of seals, ships also indicate the same. Depiction of seals, ships along with the trading record of the Mesopotamia give evidence of the trade carried outside the region
