What are Angas? What is the subject matter of these Angas?
Angas was a collection of Lord Mahavira’s teachings which he attained after omniscience. Angas is a Sanskrit word for parts and this collection was compiled into 12 parts by his disciples. Aacharang Sutra and Bhagwati Sutra are the two most popular angas. These two taught the code of conduct that jain monks should follow and some Jain doctrines in an elaborated way. Angas is a collection of Mahavira’s teachings. The Collection of these Angas was known as Dwadashangi.
