Every area was a free unit. A variety of such units had appointed officials called Korram or Nadu or Kottam in numerous elements of the country. Taniyur was an oversized village sufficiently big to be a Kurram by itself. variety of Kurrams was officially called a Valanadu. Many Valanadus created up to one Mandalam, a province. At the peak of the Chola empire, there have been eight or nine of those provinces as well as land. These divisions and names underwent constant changes throughout the Chola amount. An inscription of the eighth century at Uttaramerur temple describes the constitution of the native council, eligibility and disqualifications for the candidates, the strategy choice, their duties and delimits their power. It seems that the administration of a typical village Ur or Our was different from that of a village given to Brahmins. The administration was extremely organized and divided into central, provincial, and native self-governments to induce higher results of administration and provincial system at different levels of leadership
