Why did kings support the Reformation Movement?
The church had started to interfere in the political matters of the kings’ estates. They were trying to influence the political arena which was not appreciated by the rulers. They didn’t want to lose their power to the church. With this, the monasteries were the wealthiest organizations in the country, which attracted the rulers more to remove the church or lessen its influence. The church’s interference in political matters was discouraged by the rulers. They didn’t appreciate the church’s involvement in the political area. On top of this, monasteries, which were the epitome of the church’s power were the richest institutions in the country. The rulers wanted to acquire their wealth and riches.
