When the election for the president takes place, the members of the houses of the parliament cast their vote. They are the chosen representatives of the country, by the people. With them, even the members of the legislative assemblies’ cast their vote. In case of an election of the vice president, the members of the legislative assemblies don’t have the right to vote.

The elections that are normally held after a term is fully completed by the chosen representatives of the Lok Sabha are known as general elections. the state assemblies’ elections are also held along with the general elections sometimes. Final answer General elections are the elections that are held right after the representatives complete their full term in the Lok Sabha. This term is usually of a duration of 5 years.
