The election commission’s major function is to conduct a fair election. Apart from this, the other 3 major functions of the election commission are: allotting several political parties and individual candidates a symbol. They are responsible for fixing a date for conducting the election, which is a very crucial decision. In addition to this, the election commission has to provide people with identity cards with necessary details like name, father’s name, etc. which proves one’s eligibility to vote.
