The resentment was always there due to following reasons: The shortage of bread was because of the bad harvest in France because of severe winter. The shortages of bread and high prices made the people in France agitated. They were spending long hours at the bakery, and due to this angry women stormed into the shops. There were rumors spread in the countryside that the lords of the manor had hired bands of brigands who were on the way to destroy the ripe crops. Final answer The shortage of bread became the immediate cause of the French revolution.
