The peasants protested against the feudal lords. The economic situation of the country made them ready for any fight for their survival. The rumor of the crops being destroyed by the nobles made the situation tenser. This made them more insecure and volatile. The people in the village already made themselves strong by gearing up in arms. Some went more ahead and took revolutionary actions such as looting chateaux, destroying feudal contracts. This period was also known as the great fear. The peasants protested against the feudal lords or nobles in France by looting their chateau with pitchforks and creating fear within the nobles
