What type of freedoms were granted to the citizens of France after French Revolution?
The abolition of censorship came into effect after the storming of the Bastille in the summer of 1789, which gave the deeper impression that the king is now weak and has no control over the public. It was under the power of the King in the ancient Regime to publish what the king wanted to publish and reject the articles or books which were written against the king or the institution of the government. With the fall of Bastille, the freedom of speech and expression came as the natural right as proclaimed by the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen. Newspapers, pamphlets, books, and printed pictures circulated the towns in France describing and discussing the events and changes taking place within France like wildfire making people aware of the situation in front of them. Freedom of the press also meant that opposing views of events should be expressed. Each side whether for or against wanted to explain their position of the support of the ideas expressed through the medium of print. This became a way for the political philosophers to express their ideas and infiltrate their ideas in the minds of the people even though only a handful of people were able to perceive them. Freedom of speech and expression were granted to the citizens of France after the french revolution.
