Explanation True After the 1917 Russian revolutions, two political parties dominated Russian politics- Bolsheviks and Mensheviks. Bolsheviks was founded when Vladimir Lenin was a radical, far left as well as a Marxist faction. The party was formed in the year 1912 The party overthrew the provisional government of Alexander Kerensky and established its power Bolsheviks were more known for their radical nature and as the name suggests majority, they were not truly major in number but had ruled Russia for a longer period of time till the disintegration of the USSR. After seizing Petrograd in the year 1917, they started calling themselves communist. The Bolsheviks renamed themselves the Russian communist party in March 1918. By 1920, the Bolsheviks controlled most of the Russian empire and turned it into USSR. The statement that by January 1920, the Bolsheviks controlled most of the former Russian empire is true.
