The start of industries brought men, women, and children to factories. Working hours were sometimes long and wages were poor. Unemployment was common, particularly during times of less demand for goods from industries. Housing and sanitation issues were growing rapidly. Nearly all industries were properties of individuals. Liberals and radicals sought solutions to these issues. Many liberals and radicals themselves were sometimes property owners and employers. Industrialization was the time when new cities came up and new industrial development started, railways expanded and the Industrial Revolution occurred.
