What did 'The fire Decree' imply?
The Fire Decree was popularly known as the Reichstag Fire Decree. On 28 February 1933, based on the advice of Chancellor Adolf Hitler, German President Paul von Hindenburg issued a decree for the protection of people and state. This decree was issued in an immediate response to the Reichstag Fire. It suspended some of the civic rights guaranteed by the Weimar constitution such as the freedom of speech, press, and assembly. Issued on the 28th of February 1933, the Fire Decree indefinitely suspended the civic rights of German people like the freedom of speech, press, and assembly that had been guaranteed by the Weimar constitution.
