Explanation Ligands that occur more than once, receive a prefix according to the number of occurrences. For example: “di” for two, “tri” for three, etc. If the name of the metal ion does not end with any suffix i.e. it is the name of the metal as it is, then place that metal out of the square bracket. The roman number mentioned in the bracket, at the end of the compound name is indicated at the end of the compound formula, outside of the square bracket in the superscript form. K३[Cr(C२O4)३]
