Explanation Start the naming with the number of ligands in the compound, using prefixes such as di-, tri-, tetra- etc. for two, three and four ligands respectively. Follow alphabetical order of naming. The oxidation number of the metal in the compound has to be signified by writing in roman numbers in the bracket while naming, and placing it after the name of the metal itself.
