Explanation Gymnosperm and angiosperms bear seeds, but yet they are classified separately because in gymnosperm seeds are naked which means seeds are not produced inside the fruit. In gymnosperms, sporophyll aggregated together to form a structure called compact cones. The microsporophyll is broad and is divided into filaments and anthers. The megasporophyllis woody and they lack structure like ovary, style, and stigma due to which ovules remain exposed. Female gametophyte generally consists of archegonia. The process of fertilization includes the fusion of male and female gametes. Endosperm formed are haploid. Seeds produced are naked as there is no fruit formation. In the case of angiosperm seeds are present inside the fruit.Sporophyll aggregate with the perianth to form a flower. Microsporophyll consists of stamen which contains pollen sacs. Male gametes are present in these sacs called pollen grains. Megasporophylls are delicate and rolled forming carpels containing ovary, style, and stigma. Ovules resides inside the ovary. The archegonium is replaced bystyle, and stigma. Ovules resides inside the ovary. The archegonium is replaced by egg apparatus. At the time of fertilization two male gametes enters, one fertilizes the egg and the other one fuses with the diploid secondary nucleus to form endosperm. The endosperm, formed is triploid. The development of seeds takes place inside the fruit. Final Answer Both gymnosperm and angiosperm bear seeds, but yet they are classified separately because in gymnosperm seeds are naked which means seeds are not produced inside fruit whereas in angiosperms seeds are produced inside the fruit.Gymnosperms are seedless whereas angiosperms are seed-bearing plants. In gymnosperm, the ovary is absent so they cannot produce fruits. Seeds are developed from ovules which are found in ovaries.
