Homozygous refers to pure line breeds. They have similar allele for a trait (TT and tt). It gives rise to homozygous individuals. Homozygous individuals has either dominant or recessive allele. It can produce single type of gamete. It cannot show hybrid vigour. Heterozygous individuals are seldom pure. They have different allele for a trait (Tt). Heretrozygous individuals has both dominant and recessive allele. It can produce two types of gametes. It gives rise to different genotypes on selfing of ‘Tt’ . Offspring produced are ‘TT’, ‘tt’ and ‘Tt’. It can produce hybrid vigour Homozygous individuals carries similar alleles i.e. TT and tt. While heterozygous individuals carries different allele i.e. Tt.
