Explanation Role of Animal husbandry in human Welfare Dairy products: Mammalian livestock such as cow, buffalo, goat etc are used for the production of Milk and its related products such as curd, ghee, butter etc. Poultry products: Animals such as goat, hen, sheep, turkey etc are reared for their meat and eggs . They are a rich source of protein in diet. Apiculture: Rearing of honeybees for the production of honey and bee wax. Honey is a rich source of anti-oxidants whereas bee wax is used in various cosmetic product. Aquaculture: Fish are an alternative source of food in many parts of the world moreover their oil in also used in some therapeutic medicines. Land Management: Grazing of livestock helps in eradication of various weeds and unwanted shrubs. Moreover, grazing on dry field help in preventing fire from high temperature. Fibre: Many livestock animals such as sheep, deer etc are used in production of fibres such as wool, silk etc. Labour: Animals such as horses ,yaks,, donkey etc are used as the source of mechanical energy and cattle , bull etc for ploughing the field. Before the invention of the transports they were used as the transportation system. Even, now also they are used as the transport in hilly terrains. Manure: The remains of animals such as their excreta, bones are used as manure to increase the crop yield and can also be used as fuel.
