Sewage is water-carried waste, intended to be removed from a community. it is also known as domestic or municipal waste.it can be characterized by criteria’s like volume, flow rate, chemical and toxic components, and bacteriological status.Sewage contains wide range of dissolved and suspended impurities. Organic material like fruit and vegetable waste tends to rot in sewage water. Many of the Microrganisms present in sewage can cause several harmful water-borne diseases. These include organisms like Salmonella, Shigella, E.coli, Giardia lamblia, etc.Sewage is also the main cause of pollution in drinking water. In this way sewage can be harmful to us. Final Answer Sewage waste can enter and pollute lot of different water bodies. Also due to the presence of harmful Microrganisms, it can cause various water-borne infections. Hence,it is essential to properly collect, treat and dispose sewage water.
