If a marine fish is placed in a fresh water aquarium, will the fish be able to survive? Why or why not?
If a marine fish is placed in a freshwater aquarium, then they may not be able to survive. The marine fishes are adapted to live in high salt content which is characteristic of oceans. Their body accumulates lots of salt to maintain the balance with the outside environment. Any change in concentration of these salts would lead to change in the osmotic balance and ultimately the death of fish. If the fish is put in freshwater, the salts inside the fish body would lead to increase the inflow of water inside cells increasing the osmotic pressure of the cell. The cell will ultimately burst,
