The basic structural configurations of the Golgi apparatus comprises of disk- shaped flattened cisternae. The organelle performs several important functions, required for the proper functioning and stabilization of the cell entity. The significant functions of the Golgi apparatus are as follows: Imperative role in the packaging of substances that helps in future storage. It aids in protein assortments received from endoplasmic reticulum, thereby helping in their subsequent processing and transport to the designated organelles (for instance lysosomes and plasma membranes). In the case of plant cells, the Golgi apparatus plays a vital role in the synthesis of complex polysaccharides of the cell wall.It also aids in the synthesis and the processing of cell constituents that are essential for the functioning of several pathways in case of plant cells.Final Answer Therefore, it is evident that the Golgi apparatus is useful in the manufacturing, synthesis and the transformation of substances in suitable forms inside the cellular bodies. It plays an imperative role in the processing of the essential biomolecules like proteins and lipids, which forms the backbone in the formation of the plasma membrane. Therefore, the Golgi apparatus form an essential component of the cell structure, regulating the essential life processes that are mandatory for existence. Hence, the absence of the absence of the Golgi apparatus would disrupt the formation of new cells and cell division that is important for life.
