Explanation Mitosis is requisite for the growth and repair of the body. Meiosis is necessary for the formation of gametes. Explanation: Mitosis is the simple and mostly occurred type of cell division where a somatic cell is divided into two daughter cells with equal number of chromosome to that of parent cell. This cell division plays a major role in growth, repair and development of the body. Meiosis is another type of cell division usually occurs in the gamete cells of the body. In this type of division sex linked chromosomes are essentially divided and are involved in gamete formation.
