The Combined Defence Services Examination, commonly known as CDS is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice in a year. Candidates who get selected in a written exam followed by an interview round are recruited into the Indian Military Academy, Indian Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Officers’ Training Academy. The exam is held twice a year, usually in the month of February and September.

What is the exam pattern for CDS exam?

What is the interview process for CDS exam?

After the declaration of written exam results according to given preference and qualification candidates are called for 5 days SSB interviews. SSB interviews involve 2 stage selection process
  1. Stage I: Officers' Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests
  2.  Stage II: Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests & Conference
   Both the stages are successive for selection of candidates. Candidates need to qualify both the stages. Candidates' performance in SSB Interview is accessed by three accessors:
  1. Interviewing Officer (IO)
  2. Group Testing Officer (GTO)
  3. Psychologist
