LinkedIn has been set free.
To summarize, I was let off at the height of the 2008-09 recession. I went to LinkedIn.
Source: SafaltaI received two fresh employment offers. I started a new job, received a $15K raise, and never looked back. All in five days. That was the first time I grasped the actual potential of the world's greatest professional social networking platform.
I resigned my day job in 2012 to establish my own business. I made six figures in income in my first 90 days on my own. Everything came from clients and customers I met and interacted with on LinkedIn. To summarize, I've spent the last 48 months on LinkedIn selling items and services (both my own and those of my clients). Here are three critical tips I've learnt for using LinkedIn to create more sales leads, clients, and income.

1) Display and tell:
In today's internet economy, it should go without saying that you must earn the right to request someone's time and attention. Gone are the days of simply requesting (and receiving) someone's attention over the phone or during a coffee meeting. It's barely sufficient to say, "Well, I do XYZ, and I'd be delighted to get you on the line to see if I can help you get to know ABC.
Show folks you're the genuine thing by creating and sharing material, case studies, and client testimonials that prove you're the real deal. Everything from blogs and training videos to podcasts may be easily embedded on LinkedIn. It even curates the most popular and well-liked content and status updates and exposes them to large audiences you never imagined you could reach. Best of all, LinkedIn's extensive statistics show you who is engaged with your material, allowing you to generate warm leads in a timely, efficient, and focused manner.
2) Make your profile more client-focused:
I've said it before, and I'll say it again till the day I die: Stop treating your LinkedIn page like a virtual résumé! Instead, focus on the immediate and distinct value or advantage your product or service provides to your target clients and consumers. To verify that your LinkedIn profile follows this method, use this fill-in-the-blank template. Sales are considerably simpler to make on LinkedIn if you can set your profile in a way that makes it apparent who you are, what sort of product or service you provide, and how it will benefit your prospective consumer as a consequence.
3) Prospects should be treated as though they have a "big brother":
Before engaging a prospect on LinkedIn, I examine his or her public profile page for a few seconds. What you discover there is frequently a treasure mine of professional and private data that guarantees new partnerships get off to a good start.
I have countless stories of this tactic paying off in spectacular ways, such as the time I took 14 seconds to peruse a prospect's LinkedIn profile, sent him an appropriate invitation and follow-up message according to what I discovered, and landed myself a $10,000 marketing contract one phone call later.
I'm not employing any Jedi mind tricks, black hat techniques, or anything else. Rather, I'm using the richness of personal information on someone's LinkedIn page to break the ice and start a conversation that relates immediately to my prospect's corporate (and personal!) interests, ambitions, and passions. It's hard to realize how much has changed since I sobbed on my kitchen floor that night during the Great Recession. But, above all, I've come to realize that we are living in the single finest period in history to establish a powerful personal brand, obtain your ideal job, or even start your own business. Needless to say, LinkedIn will continue to play a significant part in all of this.
I'd recently been fired from the highest-paying job I'd ever had. To make matters worse, at the time, my wife and I had three young kids under the age of five, and the economy was in the grip of the 2008-09 recession. (The unemployment rate just surpassed 9%, the highest in over 30 years.) I received two new job offers in less than five days, thanks in large part to how I'd set up my LinkedIn profile. I took one of them and started a new job that earned $15,000 more in base pay than my previous one.
