Mastering the UGC NET: A Comprehensive Preparation Guide

The UGC NET Exam, also called the National Eligibility Test, is a competitive exam organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the University Grants Commission (UGC) in India. It takes place twice a year, typically in June and December, and is highly regarded as a difficult and esteemed exam for individuals aiming to become assistant professors or pursue a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in different universities and institutions throughout India.
The UGC NET 2024 exam follows the latest pattern and consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam duration is 3 hours. Both papers include multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in an objective format. A total of 150 questions are given to the candidates, combining both papers.

It's important to note that the UGC NET Exam does not have negative markings. The UGC NET June 2024 exam will be conducted offline using OMR sheets. The question paper is available in English and Hindi only.
 

Examination Date:

The National Testing Agency and UGC have decided to shift the UGC-NET from 16 June (Sunday) to 18, 2024 (Tuesday) because of feedback received from candidates. NTA will conduct UGC-NET in OMR mode across India on a single day. NTA will soon issue a formal notification.
 

Eligibility Criteria

Below are the eligibility criteria for UGC . Candidates who meet these criteria can apply for the UGC NET Examination.
Age limit: 
JRF: 31 for general, 36 for SC/ST
Assistant Professor: No age limit

Educational qualification: 

• General: Secured at least 55% marks in master's degree or equivalent
• SC/ST/OBC: Equivalent in education domains mentioned for general category
• Ph.D. degree holder: 5% marks relaxation is provided for candidates who have completed the PG program before September 19, 1991

UGC-NET Application Process 2024

The UGC NET June application for 2024 can be submitted between 20th April and 10th,May 2024. To apply for the UGC NET Application Form 2024, candidates should follow the steps provided below:

Step 4: Choose the Exam Center and language for UGC NET 2024 that you prefer.
Step 5: Please provide your Aadhar card number, gender, category, employment status, and qualifying exam status.
Step 6: Please provide your educational information, including your latest qualification, percentage, etc.

Validity of UGC NET Score

Candidates who achieve a passing UGC NET score will receive a UGC NET certificate. The validity of the UGC NET score for Junior Research Fellowship is three years from the date of issuance, while for Assistant Professorship, it is valid indefinitely. This means that Assistant Professorship candidates will have lifelong valid UGC NET scores, whereas JRF scores are only valid for three years.
 

UGC NET Admit Card 2024

The UGC-NET official website will release the admit card for both sessions a week before the exam. To get your UGC NET Admit Card 2024, you must have your application number and password. Follow the steps below to download the UGC NET 2024 Admit Card.

Open your internet browser and navigate to the UGC-NET official website.
Look for the 'UGC NET 2024 admit card' link in the "Recent Updates" section and click on it.
You will be directed to a login page, where you must enter your Application Number and Password in the fields provided on the screen.
