The Chapter summary is-

The Lost Spring portrays the awful situation of poor children. These children cannot enjoy childhood because of the prevailing socio-economic condition in this cruel world. This is something that anyone can see all over the world. These children didn't have the opportunity for schooling. Moreover, there is a lot of pressure on these children to enter into labor early in life. These unfortunate children are forced into labor. This certainly denied them education as well as the opportunity to have enjoyment. 

The author Anees Jung raises their voice to eliminate child labor. He does so by raising awareness regarding child education and strict law enforcement against child labor. The call is to put an end to the exploitation of children. This way, the children will be able to enjoy the days of the spring and have fun.
 
The very first part reveals the author's feeling towards life ridden poor rag pickers. The rag pickers have come from Dhaka, and the settlement of the rag pickers is in the area of Seemapuri. Devastation had come to their homes and farms as storm made them ruins. They had come to the big city in the hope of finding a living there. Anyways, the reality was very disappointing for them and verily they really had to face extremely hard situations. They were very lacking of money and lacked essential resources needed for mere survival.
 
The second part explores the life of Mukesh. A boy who is from the family of Bangle-makers. Firozabad is well-known for its remarkable glass-blowing business. There are nearly 20,000 children in this industry. Furthermore, no one over there understands or respects the law that forbids child labor. The living condition and the working environment are both hazardous
