Highlights

For recurring transactions, the limit for e-mandates on cards has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 per transaction.

For recurring transactions, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has increased the Additional Factor of Authentication (AFA) limit for e-mandates on cards, Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs), and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 per transaction. It means that for a payment of Rs 15,000 per transaction, no further authentication is required.

Over the last decade, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has implemented many safety and security measures for card payments, including the requirement of AFA, particularly for "card-not-present" transactions. An individual can give a bank a standing instruction to debit a specified amount automatically on a regular basis using an e-mandate. If you are preparing for competitive exams and looking for expert guidance, you can download our General Knowledge Free Ebook Download Now.
