On upsc.gov.in, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Exam 2 2022 announcement. Male and female candidates who are not married may now apply for UPSC NDA 2 Exam 2022 on upsconline.nic.in.

The Union Public Service Commission has released the UPSC NDA-2 2022 Notification on 18th May 2022. UPSC is recruiting for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy. The last date for applying for this examination is 7th June 2022.

  • Candidates applying for the UPSC NDA Recruitment must be well aware of the selection process and the exam pattern. It is important to know all the stages.
  • The UPSC NDA Selection Process 2022 will be having two stages which will be further divided into two sub-stages.
  • The whole process will be conducted for 1800 marks. Each stage will be conducted for 900 each.

Stepwise Selection Process for NDA 2022

Given below is the step by step selection process for UPSC NDA Exam 2022

Submit the Application form

The application is completed entirely online. Interested applicants should fill out the NDA application on the official website. The application fee is Rs 100, but SC/ST applicants and sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs are not required to pay for it. Part I (Registration) and Part II (Application) are the two parts of the NDA application form (Filling the application form).

Release of NDA Admit Card 2022

Three weeks before the test, the NDA admit card is made available online. By logging in with their registration number or roll number, all eligible candidates can download their admit cards. 

NDA Written Exam 2022

There are two parts of the written exam: Mathematics and General Ability Test. The written exam has a total score of 900 marks. Each paper is held for two hours and twelve minutes. The total number of questions asked in the GAT is 150, while the number of questions asked in Mathematics is 120.

Result announcement for NDA 2022

The written and final NDA results will be announced in two phases. The result of both phases is published online. The results are displayed in PDF format. The roll numbers of eligible candidates are shown in the result.

NDA SSB Interview 2022

There are two steps to the SSB interview. Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) assessments and the Picture Perception Description Test for Stage I. (PP&DT). Candidates will be shortlisted based on their results in both the OIR Test and the PP&DT. Interview, Group Testing Officer Duties, Psychology Assessments, and the Meeting for Stage II. These experiments take place over the course of four days.

Final Selection Process for UPSC NDA 2022

To be considered acceptable, you must achieve the minimum qualifying marks in both the written exam and the SSB interview. The names of Eligible candidates list will be added in the final merit list based on their cumulative marks in the written exam and SSB Interview, subject to these conditions.

UPSC NDA Selection Process and Exam Pattern 2022

The UPSC NDA Selection Process will consist of two phases - Written Test and SSB Interview. Every test will have a different marking scheme and some guidelines to follow. Keep reading to know more.

A. Written Test

  • It will consist of objective type questions.
  • Question booklets of both the papers will be bilingual ie, both in English as well as Hindi.
  • For Mathematics- 2.5 marks will be awarded for a correct answer
  • For GAT- 4 marks will be awarded for a correct answer 
  • For every incorrect answer, 1/3 of the marks allotted for the question will be deducted.
  • No help will be allowed from a scribe to write answers for them. A candidate is expected to write their own papers.
  • The use of a calculator or Mathematical or logarithmic table for answering objective-type papers is prohibited.

B. SSB Interview

  • SSB Test/Interview - 900 Marks
  • Candidates who qualify for these tests will be called for the interview.
  • Services Selection Board (SSB) will conduct the Intelligence and Personality Test for final selection.
  • The process consists of two stages.

Stage I: The stage I comprises of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT). You will be shortlisted based on the combination of performance in the both OIR Test and PP&D Test.

Stage II: Stage II comprises of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests are scheduled for four days.

  • Your personality will be assessed by three different assessors viz. Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO) and the Psychologist.
  • All tests will have equal weightage.
  • Board will allot marks based on initial performance in the three techniques.

What can be done after NDA Selection Process?

Following successful completion of the training, NDA training starts on the first day of the academic year. The National Defence Academy, an Inter-Service Institution, provides preliminary academic and physical training to chosen applicants for the three posts : Army, Navy, and Air Force, for a period of three years.

Cadets in the Air Force undergo 1½ years of flight training. They are however, granted a provisional Commission in the rank of Flying Officer at the end of a year of training. They are promoted to permanent commissioned officers after completing six months of additional training.

Candidates will be paid a stipend of Rs. 56100/- per month during the training period (at pay matrix of level 10). After completing the training, the applicant will be commissioned as a Lieutenant with a pay scale ranging from Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500, plus other benefits.
