Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted twice every year by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The examination is conducted by CBSE to recruit candidates who will further work as Primary Teachers (PRT), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) or Post-Graduate Teachers (PGT) teachers in Central schools across the country (such as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS),DSSSB, PSSSB, Army Public School etc and other schools under the administrative control of the Union Territories (UTs) – Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi.It is a two-stage examination processs which is then followed by an interview . All selected candidates are awarded with a certificate whic has a validity of 7 years .

What Is The Educational Qualification for Primary Teachers?
The candidates must meet any one of the following criteria given below to fulfill the CTET eligibility:

Candidates must have passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognised institute with minimum 50 per cent marks must have passed or should be appearing in the final year of the two-year teacher training diploma course in Elementary Education

Candidates must have Passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognised institute with minimum 45 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of the two-year teachers' training diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with rules mentioned in NCTE, 2002

Candidates must have passed 10+2 board examinations from a recognised institute with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of four-year bachelor’s course in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)

Candidates must have passed 10+2 board examinations with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Special Education

What Is The Educational Qualification for Elementary Teachers?
In order to be qualified to get appointed as an elementary stage teacher the applicants must fulfill any one of the criteria :

Candidates must have passed Graduation in any stream and passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed)

Graduation in any stream with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year B.Ed course

Candidates must have done their graduation with minimum 45 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year B.Ed in accordance with the rules and norms of NCTE

Candidates must have passed 10+2 board exams from a recognised institute with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of four-year B.El.Ed

What Are The Important points to note?

Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC) and Differently Abled will receive relaxation of five per cent out of the qualifying marks .

The diploma/degree in Teacher's Education pursued by candidates should be mandatorily recognised by NCTE

In case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed (Special Education),only a teacher course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) shall be considered

A candidate with Diploma in Special Education needs to undergo an NCTE recognized six-month Special Programme in Elementary Education after appointment
