How To Join Army As A Women
Women who want to join the Indian Army can do so through various entries. The most recent opening for women is the NDA Exam. The space below list various opportunities for Women to get into the army depending upon their eligibility. The women through various entries can get into various roles and share a number of responsibilities with their male counterparts in the defense. The combat roles are yet to open for women in India. The details related to entries after graduation are listed below.

1- Graduate UPSC (Non-Technical)
Short Service Commission (non-technical) is one option for applicants with a non-engineering background to enter the armed forces.
Candidates must pass a written test given by the UPSC twice a year, in February and September.
Candidates who pass the written test are subsequently invited to an interview with the Service Selection Board (SSB).
Following are the eligibility criteria-
- Female candidates must be single and unmarried.
- Candidates must be between the ages of 19 and 25.
- They need also to have a bachelor's or master's degree in any field from a recognised university.
2- Graduate UPSC (Technical)
Females with a graduate degree in any engineering subject are eligible to apply for the Short Service Commission (Technical).
There is no written test, and applicants are chosen solely on merit.
Eligibility criteria for the same are-
- Only unmarried candidates can apply.
- Female candidates should be between 20 to 27 years.
3- Graduate NCC
The National Cadet Corps, sometimes known as the NCC, is a youth development programme that offers young people basic military training in small weapons and parades.
Female applicants who have served as active volunteers in the NCC are eligible to join the Indian Army through this method.
Eligibility criteria for the same are-
- Two years of service in NCC Senior Division Army obtaining a minimum ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ certificate exam.
- Females candidates between 19 to 25 years are eligible.
- Candidates should have 50 percent marks in graduation.
4- Graduate JAG
The Joint Advocate General is an Indian Army component that offers legal assistance to the military, primarily in court-martials and military law.
You must have a recognised legal degree to apply through this procedure (either 3-year or 5-year). Eligibility criteria for the same are-
- Female candidates should be between 21 to 27 years of age.
- Minimum of 55 percent marks in LLB.
- Should be registered with the Indian or State Bar Council.
Candidates who pass the SSB interview are invited to the military hospital for a medical examination.
When they are certified fit, they must attend Officers Instruction Academy in Chennai for 49 weeks of training (11 months).
The training will begin in either April or October.

Indian Air Force
To join the Air Force, you must pass the AFCAT test, which is given twice a year (February and August).
After passing the exam, you will be invited to the AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) interview.
Those who pass the interview are subjected to a series of medical examinations, after which they are given their final offer letters.
1- Flying Branch
In the flying branch, you can apply for Short Service Commission, which can last up to 14 years.
In the flying branch, you may fly fighter planes, transport/cargo planes, helicopters, and so on. Eligibility criteria for the same are-
- Females between the age of 19 to 23 years can apply for this branch.
- Bachelor’s degree in any field or a B.tech. Degree with at least 60 percent marks.
- As an Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ Certificate holder of the National Cadet Corps, you can apply to the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force directly.
2- Technical Branch
The IAF hires experts and competent engineers to provide technical support.
Candidates are hired based on the AFCAT exam.
There are two types of services under this branch- Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) and Aeronautical Engineer (Electrical). Eligibility criteria for the same are-
- A four-year degree from an acknowledged university with at least 60 percent marks in at least eight courses as specified in the announcement.
- Cleared Section A and B exam of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers or Aeronautical Society of India in regular courses.
- OR graduate membership exam of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers in regular courses.

Indian Navy
Women are inducted straight into the Indian Navy on a Short Service Commission.
Applications are solicited for each position via advertising published in significant newspapers and employment news twice a year, from February to May and August to November.
1- Air Traffic Controller
An ATC officer is in charge of managing and navigating aeroplanes both on land and at sea.
Women applicants must be between the ages of 19.5 and 25 and hold a BE/ B.Tech degree in any area, with Physics and Math in 12th grade.
2- Logistics
A Logistics Officer is responsible for planning, predicting, and implementing the ship's budget as well as inventory management of spare parts and other day-to-day material requirements.
The logistics branch is divided into three distinct categories: logistics cadre, works, and catering.
The age range for each group is 19.5 to 25 years.
3- Law
Candidates should be between 22 to 27 years of age.
They should have a graduate degree in law with at least 55 percent marks.
4- Observer
An observer officer is in charge of different shipboard equipment such as sonics, radars, sonars, and communication devices.
Women candidates should be between the ages of 19 and 24, have a B.E/B.Tech degree in any area, and have studied Physics and Maths in 12th grade.
5- Naval Architecture
Female applicants between the ages of 19.5 and 25 must have earned at least 60% in a BE/B.Tech degree in any of the following fields: Mechanical, civil, aeronautical, metallurgical, or naval architecture are all examples of engineering disciplines.

SSB Interview
The SSB (Service Selection Board) interview is a five-day selection procedure used to choose applicants for the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. It is divided into two phases. Each stage is an elimination phase, and applicants who pass all five rounds go to the medical testing.
