What are cleistogamous flowers? Can cross-pollination occur in cleistogamous flowers? Give a reason?
In some Angiosperm plants eg. Commelina, Oxalis, etc, flowers are bisexual and they never open. This condition is known as cleistogamy and flowers from this condition are called cleistogamous. The cleistogamous flowers are self-pollinated and to ensure this they never open. Hence, cross-pollination is not possible.
