Option B The middle lamella is a layer rich in pectins which cement the cell walls of adjacent plant cells and forms plasmodesmata connections. This pectin-rich layer is made up of calcium and magnesium pectates.  Plasmodesmata are cytoplasmic channels that pass through the cell walls of the plant and few algal cells which help in the transport of substances and communication between the adjacent cells
