SSC CHSL Exam Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the exam is mentioned in the official notification. Candidates must ensure they meet all the criteria before they apply for the exam. The SSC CHSL Exam Eligibility criteria is as follows:

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

There are 3 stages in this exam. The examination consist of one Computer Based Exam (Tier –I) and a descriptive paper as Tier- II. At last candidates have to appear for the skill test.

SSC CHSL Tier I Exam Pattern     

The first phase of the SSC CHSL exam is a online exam. Where candidates will have to secure marks more than a certain cutoff, in order to be eligible for other phases of the exam.

  1. Questions in Tier –I are objective type
  2. Each question carries 2 mark.
  3. Stipulated time for completion of Tier –I is one hour.
  4. SSC CHSL Tier –I is a bilingual exam, conducted in Hindi and English.
  5. In Tier-I, there will be negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer.

SSC CSHL Tier 2 Descriptive Paper

Only those candidates who are able to clear the cut off of Tier 1 will appear for this stage. In this paper the descriptive skills of candidates are tested. Candidates will have to opt to write either in Hindi or English. The pattern of the exam is as follows:

  1. Maximum marks possible are 100.
  2. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II is 33 per cent.
  3. The paper can be written either in Hindi or in English.

 In the Tier- III, Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) and Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) will be conducted. The details related to the Tier III exam are given below:

  1. This is the test of typing skills.
  2. The nature of stage is qualifying.
  3. Errors in the Skill Test will be calculated up to 2 decimal places.

The scheme for typing test is as follows:

Data Entry Operator

1.      Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage.

2.      Duration 15 minutes.

 LDC/ JSA and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant:

1.      The medium of Typing Test will be Hindi or English

2.      Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) and those opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.).
