In order to give Short Service Commissions (SSC) in the Flying Branch, Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches, and for NCC Special Entry Scheme, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will begin accepting registrations from students who wish to enrol in courses beginning in January 2024. (For flying branch). The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 01/2023 will serve as the basis for the selection process. Registration for AFCAT 2023 will take place on the websites https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in OR https://afcat.cdac.in from December 1, 2022, to December 30, 2022. The training for chosen candidates will take place for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal during the first week of January 2024. Training at Air Force Training Establishments lasts 74 weeks for the Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches and 52 weeks for the Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches. Selection Process

A written portion of the AFCAT will be followed by three rounds of testing: the Officers Intelligence Rating Test, Picture Perception and Discussion Test, Psychological Test, and Group Tests/Interviews.

Educational Qualification

NCC Special Entry
Obtaining an NCC Air Wing Senior Division "C" certificate on or after December 1, 2017. At least 60% in math and physics at the 10+2 level.

Candidates who have passed Section A & B examinations of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent are also eligible. Graduates with a minimum of three years of degree courses in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent are also eligible.

Ground Duty Non Technical

  • Administration: 12th grade and graduation with a minimum grade point average of 60% or equivalent, or passing scores in sections A and B of the Associate Membership Examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India from an accredited university.
  • Education - 12th and Post-Graduation with 50% in any discipline, including integrated courses enabling lateral access and single degrees without exit, and with 60% in Graduation in any discipline.
  • Logistics - Graduate in any field with at least a 60% grade point average or an equivalent, or passed the section A and B examination for Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with at least a 60% grade point average or an equivalent.
Flying Branch
12th grade with a minimum of 60% overall and 50% in math and physics, and a degree in any field from an accredited university. OR a BE/B Tech degree with at least 60% overall or an equivalent grade. OR Candidates who have passed the Sections A and B of the Associate Membership Examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with at least 60% marks or an equivalent score.

Ground Duty
  • Electronics-focused aeronautical engineer, or AE (L). - A minimum of 60% in the following subjects, or the equivalent, in the 12th grade, with 50% each in mathematics and physics, and four years of graduation or integrated post-graduation in engineering or technology, OR you have passed Sections A and B of the Associate Membership Examination of the Institution of Engineers (India), the Aeronautical Society of India, or the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers. - Communication engineering (aaa). Physical Eligibility

To be able to take the examinations at AFSB, candidates are encouraged to be in good physical condition when called by SSB. You should strive to be able to complete 10 pushups, 3 chinups, and 1 mile (1.6 km) in 10 minutes.

Significant Dates

  • AFCAT application forms will be accepted beginning on December 1, 2022, at 11 AM.
  • The deadline to submit an AFCAT application is December 30, 2022, at 5:00 PM.

Age Limit
