The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Senior Research Fellowship 2022 is a research opportunity provided to Ph.D. holders by the Ministry of Education (Government of India) of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Outstanding Indian social scientists will get fellowships to do a full-time study on topics and concerns of national and societal importance.  The chosen fellows will get a fellowship worth INR 45,000 per month and an INR 40,000 annual contingency allowance.

Eligibility for Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Senior Research Fellowship 2022

To qualify, a candidate must: -

• Not be less than 45 years old or older than 70 years old as of the closing date for applications.
• Possess a doctorate (Note - The candidates must have the necessary competence to conduct research in Social Sciences or social aspects of other disciplines in the opinion of the ICSSR.)
• At the time of submission, have an outstanding research publication
• Be a member of an ICSSR Research Institute, an Institute of National Importance (recognized by the MoE), a government-funded institution of higher learning, including a designated university of choice

Note: Senior government and military officials with at least 25 years of continuous service are eligible to apply, as are people with a Ph.D. in a social science field and a track record of publishing books, research papers, and reports that demonstrate their research experience.
 

Benefits of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Senior Research Fellowship 2022

• Regardless of the pensionary benefit, the chosen fellow will receive a fellowship of INR 45,000 per month and a contingency grant of INR 40,000 per year (for two years).
• A fellow is entitled to pay and any other perks permitted by law under the salary protection policy.

  However, the ICSSR does not accept special benefits like the children's education allowance, medical reimbursement, LTC, etc. According to its guidelines, the parent organization may shell out or pay back the same.
• Under the policies of the parent institution, the ICSSR shall additionally pay the leave and pension contributions, or the CPF contribution and gratuity, during the period the fellow occupies the job.

Documents required for Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Senior Research Fellowship 2022

• 200 to 300 words would make up the research proposal's abstract.
• The scholar is required to provide the following materials upon completion of the fellowship: 
• A book-length final report in publishable form
• A summary of the report (between 3,000 and 4,000 words)
• Published research papers
• A statement from the affiliating institution attesting to the settlement of the assets and books acquired with the contingency grant.

Note: The candidates should offer the document in hard form (two of the ultimate report, five of the synopsis, and research articles), and a soft copy on a flash drive.

Selection Standards for Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Senior Research Fellowship 2022

The procedure listed below will be used to choose the candidates:

• The screening committee will initially review and shortlist the applications.
• After that, from among the qualified applicants, topic group(s) or expert committee(s) will shortlist the worthy suggestions.
• An expert committee will invite the shortlisted candidates to speak or present.
• Following the discussion, the expert committee(s) will draught award recommendations that will be presented to the relevant committee(s) for their approval.
• The ICSSR website will host the list of chosen candidates.

Terms and Conditions of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Senior Research Fellowship 2022

• Applications that are incomplete in any way will not be considered for the fellowship.
• The same fellowship or salary protection cannot be granted to a fellow more than once.
• Regarding SC, ST, and individuals with physical disabilities, ICSSR complies with Government of India Rules and Directives.
• Fellows who have finished their fellowship's duration but still want to use their names in the title should prefix "Former" and follow "the duration" with the name of the fellowship, for example, Former National/Senior/Post-Doctoral Fellow ICSSR (2016-18).
• The scholar must join the fellowship by submitting the necessary paperwork to the affiliating/administering institution within one month of the award letter's date. In unusual cases, it may be prolonged for up to a few months with the ICSSR's prior consent.
• By decision of the expert committees of ICSSR, regular faculty members in public-funded universities/colleges and research institutes receiving UGC pay scales may be considered for pay protection in particularly meritorious cases.
• Additionally, the ICSSR Expert Committee reserves the authority to change a fellowship proposal into a project proposal.
• The fellowship will be authorized initially for a year, starting on the scholar's day of entering the fellowship.
• A good Annual Progress Report and Statement of Account for the entire fellowship released for the first year must be received before the fellowship can be renewed for the following year.
• If the fellow's research is judged to be substandard or if any ICSSR norms are broken, the fellowship may be terminated.
• The scholars are required to publish at least three research papers over the length of the fellowship, ideally on the topic of the conducted study in Scopus Indexed or UGC Care listed research journals.
• A fellow is not permitted to accept other fellowships, research projects, or regular financial benefits/assignments from any other institutions while accepting the position.
• During the fellowship time, the fellow will be subject to the policies of the affiliating/administering institution in all aspects, including withdrawals of TA/DA, holidays/leave, contingency grants, etc.
